I am a Licensed Acupuncturist in California. I have completed over 2000 hours of coursework and over 1000 hours of clinic in my academic program at the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College (AIMC) in Berkeley, CA. AIMC also focuses on Japanese acupuncture, which places its emphasis on ensuring that the patient is comfortable, and therefore strongly stresses a painless, yet highly effective needling technique.
I fell in love with acupuncture through my then boyfriend’s (now husband) urging. I had been getting headaches everyday for a few weeks and I was popping ibuprofen like it was candy. I went to my MD quite a few times and was given more medication and advised to drink less caffeine, get more sleep and try changing my laundry detergent. He knew and I knew that those remedies and the fact that I was getting headaches were not right. He recommended that I see an acupuncturist he was friends with and after just a few treatments my headaches went away! I was so amazed by the work she did and how great it felt that there was something special happening. At the time I was in undergrad at San Francisco State University getting my B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development and I enrolled in a Holistic Health class and after learning more about Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, I knew that was the path for me!
